Rescuing her from the margins of history: Countess Ermengarde of Brittany (c.1070-1147) Professor Amy Livingstone.

Amy Livingstone is the Head of the Lincoln School of Humanities and Heritage and Professor of Medieval History. Previously she was the Associate Dean of the Honors College and Professor of History at Ball State University in Indiana and the H.O. Hirt Professor of History at Wittenberg University in Ohio. She is a scholar of medieval Europe and her research focuses on the aristocracy of medieval France, particularly women and the family.

Brief Description of Lecture: Countess Ermengarde of Brittany led a fascinating life, which was well documented by her contemporaries. Yet she has been all but forgotten in modern narratives about the Middle Ages. This lecture will bring to life this influential medieval woman and explore why her voice had been lost to history – until now.

Doors open at 7pm at Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding. Lecture starts 7.30pm. Entry £5, full time students free.
