‘Winter’s Tales’ by the Greenwood Quire

Friday 23rd October 2026, 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm)

Enjoy seasonal songs from the Greenwood Quire – a group making glorious music across the South Lincolnshire region.

Their repertoire is drawn from music traditionally performed by local singers and amateur musicians in churches and chapels throughout the country before the introduction of organs and harmoniums. During the 18th and 19th centuries, many of these tunes were preserved in books and manuscripts compiled by a wide range of composers and collectors.

‘Winter’s Tales’ shares the story of 18th-century communities – including the characters, their work, and the music of Sunday worship. Using archive records and contemporary accounts, life in Georgian England shines out through the instruments, voices and music of the people.

Venue: Broad Street Methodist Church, Broad Street, Spalding PE11 1TB
